Travis Head Achieves Milestone in IPL

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 17: On Thursday, Travis Head marked a significant achievement by surpassing 1,000 runs in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career.

The dynamic Australian batsman reached this milestone during a match where his team, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), faced off against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Despite the occasion, Head struggled to find his rhythm, managing only 28 runs off 29 balls, including three boundaries, before being dismissed by Will Jacks.

Across 32 innings in the IPL, Head has accumulated 1,014 runs, boasting an average of 36.21 and an impressive strike rate of 172.44, which includes one century and seven half-centuries, with his highest score being 102.

Currently, he ranks as the sixth-highest run-scorer in IPL 2025, having scored 242 runs in seven innings at an average of 34.57, with two fifties and a strike rate exceeding 168. His top score this season is 67.

Last year, in his debut season with SRH, Head excelled alongside Abhishek Sharma, scoring 567 runs in 15 matches at an average of 40.50 and a strike rate above 191, including one century and four fifties, with a best of 102.

Previously, between 2016-17, he played 10 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he scored 205 runs at an average of 29.29, with a strike rate over 138, including one half-century and a top score of 75.

In total, Head has scored 809 runs in 22 matches for SRH, averaging 38.52 with a strike rate above 183, featuring one century and five fifties, with his best score again being 102.

In the match, MI won the toss and chose to field first. Following this, Abhishek Sharma (40 runs off 28 balls, with seven fours) and Head (28 runs off 29 balls, with three fours) formed a partnership of 59 runs. However, the team struggled to maintain a high run rate, despite contributions from Heinrich Klaasen (37 runs off 28 balls, with three fours and two sixes). SRH concluded their innings at 162/5 after 20 overs, with Will Jacks (2/14) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/21) being the standout bowlers.

MI now needs to chase down 163 runs to secure their third victory in the tournament.
